Rounding-Off System #
This system is built to manage decimal point situations.
When customers make purchases, they earn points based on how much they’ve spent. Many times the total points earned isn’t a whole number. For example, if your rule is ₹1 = 1.5 points, and a customer spends ₹399, they would earn 598.5 points.
To decide how to handle the decimal (0.5 in this case), you can choose one of the following rounding rules:
Floor Rounding or Round Down
#
The given option always rounds the points down to the nearest whole number, no matter the decimal.
It’s useful when you want to keep point rewards slightly conservative.
For example,
- Suppose a customer spends ₹399
- With ₹1 = 1.5 points, they earn 598.5 points
- After applying Floor, they receive 598 points
Round to Nearest Integer #
The given option rounds the points up or down depending on the decimal value.
Decimals below ‘.5’ go down, and ‘.5’ or above go up, making it a fair middle-ground choice.
For example,
- Suppose a customer spends ₹399
- Earns 598.5 points
- If they spent ₹398 (which gives 597 points), they get exactly 597
- If they spent ₹397 (which gives 595.5 points), it becomes 596
Allow Decimal Points #
The given option keeps the points exactly as they are, including any decimal values. It’s ideal if you want customers to earn the exact points without any rounding.
For example,
- Suppose a customer spends ₹399
- Earns 598.5 points
- They receive the full 598.5 points
How to Choose Your Rounding Method? #
To choose the Rounding Method on inback
- Go to Reward Program section
- Navigate to Place Order window
- Find the last text field of “Rounding rule for points.”
- Select an option from the given three
- Select Done.
The rounding rule is set; now all the customer points will be adjusted according to the preferred rounding rule.
