The loyalty program of inback offers ‘tiers’ to differentiate the normal customers from privileged ones. Both of them receive different offers depending on the tiers they belong to.
What are Tiers? #
Tiers are levels that customers move through based on rules set by the merchant. Each tier comes with a specific set of benefits. Only customers who meet the requirements of a tier can access those benefits.
Merchants create tiers and decide:
- How customers move into a tier
- Benefits that are available in each tier
As customers continue to shop and engage with the store, they can move to higher tiers and unlock better privileges.
Types of tiers #
Base Tier
Base tiers are the entry-level tiers. This is the starting point for all customers. This tier always stays in the program and can’t be deleted. The entry requirement for the base tier is always zero and it cannot be changed.
Additional Tiers
Additional tiers, such as gold, silver, bronze, etc., can be set by merchants. These are higher, reward-rich levels that customers can unlock by meeting the defined criteria—usually based on revenue spent (cumulative spend) after the VIP tier function is live. The additional tier names can be customized by the merchants.
Tiers are successive in nature, which means the entry requirement for level 2 tier cannot be more than level 3.
For example, merchant set the silver tier entry threshold as $50 and gold tier entry threshold as $100.
Why Is VIP Tier Important? #
Setting up a tier basis is important for customers to feel privileged. It also generates motivation for people to buy more and engage better with the brand. Increasing benefits results in higher retention of customers.
Example of VIP Tiers:
| Tier Name | Threshold Spend | Perks |
| Base | Spend $0 | Entry reward |
| Silver | Spend $ 200 | 2x points on orders |
| Gold | Spend $ 500 | Free shipping, 1.5x points |
| Platinum | Spend $ 1000 | Free gift, Discount coupon |
